HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS
The high school girl's lacrosse program builds
off of developmental skills learned at the middle
school level while also welcoming new, first time players to the
sport. Girl's lacrosse at the high school level focuses on the integration
of basic fundamentals and more complex game strategies. This allows
new players to develop their lacrosse skills while enhancing the game
for returning players.
Each team must compete against eight division-level
teams to be eligible for a state championship typically held in the
third weekend of May. Rankings are based upon quality of wins but can
be tracked through Lax
Power and the Kentucky
Lacrosse Association.
Currently there is one team in the Lexington area that presently has
players representing five high schools from Fayette County: Dunbar,
Sayre, Lexington Catholic, Tates Creek, and Henry Clay. Sponsored by
LYLA and member of the Kentucky Lacrosse Association, the Lexington
Lions are a city-wide team and welcomes any high school player from
Fayette County attending public, private, and home schools. LYLA
sponsors a Fall League for girls. For more information about the
teams, schedules, practices, coaches, or results, please visit the team
web site or contact the coach listed below.
